He was a trained dental laboratory technician for many years before he was a dentist and uses those skills daily
Dr. Richard Stanman was born in Los Angeles and grew up in the San Fernando Valley. His dexterity and hand skills became apparent at a very young age as he statrted making model airplanes and cars. Richard’s interest in dentistry began to develop at the age of eleven primarily because of his next door neighbor, Dr. Shields, a dentist and wonderful mentor.
Dr. Stanman went to the Naval Dental Training Center in San Diego and was trained as a prosthetic technician. He worked for several years at this profession before entering the College of Physicians and Surgeons (U.O.P.) Dental School in San Francisco. He graduated at the top of his class in 1975. He is a member of of Omicro Kappa Upsilon Dental honor society, Tau Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society, The B.C Kingsbury Award in outstanding prosthetic excellence,
In 1975 Dr. Stanman opened his dental office at 11600 Wilshire Blvd in Brentwood, California, and the practice continues to prosper in the same location. Dr. Stanman was appointed to the State Board of Dental Examiner as an expert examiner in 1996. Dr. Stanman brings more than thirty years of experience into service for his patients and continues to enjoy his work very much. He is a true craftsmen at his work, and stays current with the latest technology.
In addition to being a meritorious dentist, Dr. Stanman has developed several avocations including big game saltwater fishing, competitive drag racing, car restoration, master gardener, gourmet chef, koi fish expert, oil painter, astronomer, violinist, guitarist, photographer, and boy scout merit badge counselor. One might say that he is a renaissance man.
